When most of you talk about Office suites, you can only point to the famous products of Microsoft. However, there are other options you can try, especially if you’re a home user. OfficeSuite, hugely popular on mobile platforms, has moved to Windows, bringing a clean-looking, simple-to-use suite of office-related tools.

It is fully compatible with all popular formats including DOC, DOCX, DOCM, XLS, XLSX, XLSM, PPT, PPTX, PPS, PPSX, PPTM, and PPSM. Supports standard formats such as OpenDocument (ODT, ODS, and ODP), RTF, CSV, and ZIP. As a standard feature of all programs, OfficeSuite offers a good version of Microsoft Office, from which it borrows the GUI layout. It supports all Office formats, so you don’t have to worry about compatibility.

With a name that speaks to ease of use and ease of use, OfficeSuite focuses on the most important utility features typically included in such packages. It brings a word processor, spreadsheet editor, presentation creator, PDF reader, and editor to the table. Although I wasn’t impressed with the thoughtless design element, OfficeSuite’s Documents app was easy to use and had all the useful features I expected. It includes all the basics, including tools for drawing various headings and formats, tools for inserting tables, tracking changes, adding comments to documents, and more. It also has an AI assistant that changes sentences.

My biggest gripe with the document was the word meter – at first glance, there isn’t one. I’d expect to find one at the bottom of the app, similar to the location in Microsoft Office, but OfficeSuite seems to have other ideas. Does Microsoft own the rights to the word counter at the bottom? I don’t know. What I do know is that word count matters to me as a writer. So I searched through the tabs and finally found it under the Reviews tab. After figuring this out, I discovered that there is a keyboard shortcut to open it (Control-Shift-G). However, it shows the word and character count but cannot keep it visible. So I had to open it every time I wanted to see the progress of my draft. For me, this was a critical pain point.

Other useful features seemed well-organized and easy to find. A few actions take a few more clicks than they seem necessary. For example, there were no buttons to access “post format” or to insert a link – I had to look for them. Alt key codes, which are commonly used to insert characters such as hyphens, do not work in Docs. Instead, I had to use the Unicode keys in the Symbols menu.

OfficeSuite PDF

OfficeSuite’s PDF was a pleasure to use, as it was clearly laid out and easy to find tools such as highlight and export buttons and the digital signature tool. I couldn’t edit PDFs with my membership because it wasn’t included without purchasing a PDF Extra license ($50 per year or $100 for life). I could easily convert the PDF to a Word document and save it back to PDF if I needed a new version, so it didn’t bother me.

Highlights for me were the signature tool and the ability to export watermark-free PDF files to Word documents, Excel documents, PowerPoints or ePub files. I should add that Adobe’s free version does not allow you to sign read-only PDF files. I usually need to sign PDFs, but I don’t pay for an Adobe membership, so I pay a one-time fee for an online service to add an electronic signature, and if you ask me, that little feature is a big win.

OfficeSuite Slides

I don’t give many presentations these days, but OfficeSuite Slides offers a convenient alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint. I downloaded my old college papers and opened them without any problems. I was also able to edit these and found that most of the tools in Slides were well organized.

The slide doesn’t have many preset layouts for creating new presentations – 13 in total. The presets it has are nice, but if you like a lot of design options like me, I recommend downloading the appropriate themes. I downloaded some for free from Slidesgo, like the cherry blossom theme.

Other editing tools that focus more on presentations, such as transitions, animations, and the ability to insert music, photos, and videos, were readily available. I’ve seen Slides work well for educators, trainers, and students, and despite some organizational differences, I couldn’t tell much of a difference between Slides and Microsoft’s alternatives.

OfficeSuite Mail

If I had to pick my least favorite app that comes with OfficeSuite, it would be the Mail app. Personally, this may be biased because I never like using email programs that consolidate all emails into one inbox. I prefer Gmail’s organized categories, and then there’s a slight edge to how many labels you can create to store important emails. However, Mail does its job with limitations. For example, I couldn’t see the reply to the message after sending a reply to someone, just like in Gmail. When opening one of my tabs, I noticed that the app was noticeably sluggish. Loading a folder of emails was slow, but loading each one in my inbox was pretty quick, not a big deal, but enough to make me wish Gmail was in a browser window.

The layout itself was great and easy to understand, so if you’re someone who has multiple email accounts (OfficeSuite’s Mail lets you link up to 10) and likes to keep them all in one place, you might be fine. this program. Unfortunately, I didn’t prefer it and found it more annoying than helpful. It’s similar to Microsoft’s preinstalled Mail app on Windows PCs. If you like it, you might like it. The best part, in my opinion, was the Mail app calendar sync that connects to your Google Calendar (or other calendar apps). I edited and deleted events with ease, and got a cute little reminder that popped up on the screen to remind me that my shift was starting. Mail is desktop-only, so its usefulness is limited if you’re on the go.

Using Sheets was almost as efficient as Excel, but I noticed a slight lag when entering data. It was too small to ignore, so I continued to use Sheets for budgeting, running spreadsheets on my own, tracking my literary journal submissions, and shamelessly coloring code blocks of data.

Highlighting a single column of text gave me the expected averages, counts, and sums, and when I looked at the Excel layout side-by-side, most of the key items were at similar points in the Sheets version. That’s probably why everything was so easy for me. For my purposes, Sheets performed just as well as using Google Sheets or Excel spreadsheets, minus the minor data entry speed issues. If you live and breathe spreadsheets, the small difference of having dropdowns instead of tabs might be enough to make you wary, but for casual and intermediate spreadsheet builders, the difference is negligible.
